Making a Mark: Abstraction in the Ahmanson Collection Exhibition Opening

On Saturday, 29 October 2022, the Ahmanson Gallery celebrated the opening of its newest exhibition, Making A Mark: Abstraction in the Ahmanson Collection , curated by John Silvis . The event began in the afternoon with a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Jonathan Anderson , (PhD, King’s College London), an artist, art critic, and postdoctoral associate of theology and the visual arts at Duke University. The panelists included Carl Berg , gallery director and curator; Jennifer Gross, modern and contemporary art curator and scholar; Linnéa Spransy Neuss , artist; and Christine Turner , artist. The opening reception was preceded by a poetry and music performance by former California Poet Laureate and director of the National Endowment for the arts, Dana Gioia , and jazz pianist, Helen Sung .
